New affordable housing is coming to North Charleston, S.C. The Post and Courier reports:
A Mount Pleasant home builder was the top bidder for 99 long-vacant lots at the North Charleston Housing Authority's Horizon Village community and hopes to develop affordable homes there.
Hunter Quinn Homes of Mount Pleasant was the highest of two undisclosed bids for the lots, which already have public streets and utility connections in place. The sale awaits approval from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, said Housing Authority Executive Director Gary Scott.
"We intend to design a combination of attached and detached single-family product exclusively for Horizon Village to blend with the existing streetscape and meet the needs of the community," said Hunter Quinn President Will Herring. "That area of the Lowcountry is in need of affordable homes."
