Ottawa-based builder eQ Homes and its parent company Regional Group is the recipient of the 2019 Lee Evans Award for Management Excellence. This is the first time the award has been presented to a Canadian builder.
The young company, which built 300 homes in 2018, was named Production Builder of the Year by the Greater Ottawa Home Builders’ Association, among many other awards.
“It is very impressive that eQ Homes has achieved the kind of management excellence it has today in less than 10 years since opening its doors,” said Charles C. Shinn Jr., PhD, founder and president of Shinn Consulting. “The discipline this award represents is a testimony to the hard work of everyone at the company; this is a very high level of performance.”
The Lee Evans Award was created in honor of the respected housing industry educator. It recognizes home building companies that have made significant progress in improving their management processes to streamline their organizations and achieve superior profits, while delivering a high-quality product to buyers. Shinn Consulting presents the prestigious award annually to one company that displays exceptionally sound management principles and reflects the high standards that we encourage our builders to reach.
eQ Homes President David Wallace accepted the award, presented at the Shinn Builder Partnerships Executive Summit in Breckenridge, Colorado, on behalf of the company.
“Having worked with Chuck and Emma Shinn for over 15 years in both the US and Canada, it was truly a privilege to see the team at eQ reach a level of organizational maturity and high performance that allowed it to win this award,” Wallace said. “The Shinn's preaching, teaching, and encouragement have reinforced the notion that great businesses are built on a foundation of basic skills, processes, and metrics. If you stick to the fundamentals, persist, and always do the right thing, you'll succeed.”
