Door hardware brand Kwikset has unveiled a new Bluetooth-enabled smart lock that combines the latest smart technology but comes at an affordable price.
Aura, the company says, provides an affordable entry point for those looking to upgrade to a smart lock with simple programming capabilities through a smart phone.
“Aura is a straightforward smart lock solution for customers who have not yet embraced the idea of a smart home,” says Ali Atash, senior product marketing manager for Kwikset, a division of Spectrum Brands. “With both user code and traditional key access, as well as easy programming and simple management capabilities without platform complexities, Aura will appeal to people looking to add style and convenience to their lives at an affordable price.”
With Aura, homeowners may purchase an affordable smart lock that can be programmed and managed from the brand’s mobile app on compatible smart phones while the homeowner is within Bluetooth range of the lock. Homeowners can schedule guest access, generate and manage up to 250 user codes, and share lock management with others from the app. It can be locked and unlocked using the keypad, a traditional key or through the mobile app when the user within Bluetooth range of the lock.
What’s especially attractive for contractors, builders, and home builders, the company says, is that the price point is only $149, and the installation is simple, which is perfect “for those just entering the smart lock and smart home space.” Buyers will also like the advanced security features, the company says.
“Homeowners will feel secure knowing Aura features the Kwikset patented SmartKey Security, protecting against common and forced entry break-in methods like lock picking, lock bumping, and torque attacks,” the brand explains. “SmartKey Security also allows homeowners to reset their security by re-keying their locks quickly and easily; rendering lost, loaned or unreturned keys useless.”
Aura is available at The Home Depot, Lowe’s, Amazon, and Build. The smart lock will be available in three finishes: Satin Nickel, Venetian Bronze, and Iron Black.
