It is with a heavy heart that I share the news that Perry Bigelow, founder of Bigelow Homes, passed away on July 4, 2022. Perry was passionate about home building, always inquisitive and willing to embrace new design and construction techniques. He was a pioneer in energy conservation, affordable housing designs, and neighborhood land planning, design and development for family living.
Perry was highly respected by his peers. He was honored numerous times by the industry and major trade publications. He was named Builder of the Year by
Professional Builder in 2005, and the
Chicago Sun-Times named him Builder of the Year multiple times.
Perry was passionate about social responsibility and helping the less fortunate. He developed programs to build quality affordable homes in the inner-city areas of Chicago. He served on the Board of Directors of Homes for HOPE.
Perry and I knew each other for nearly our entire careers. He was a great friend and devoted supporter of Lee Evans/Shinn business practices. He was a valued member of one of our builder groups.
My thoughts and prayers are with Perry’s family and loved ones.
