DuPont Tyvek DrainVent Rainscreen offers superior performance against water intrusion to protect the unique reclaimed wood cladding of the Guadalupe River Ranch

The owners of Guadalupe River Ranch in Texas had one goal in mind for the exterior of their home: extensive use of reclaimed barnwood siding. While beautiful, rustic and naturally aged, barnwood is also porous, prone to cracks and doesn’t provide adequate protection against water intrusion for the building envelope.

To ensure a dry, durable space for the Guadalupe River Ranch homeowners, Todd Glowka Builder, Inc. started with the exterior wall system. Reducing moisture in the reclaimed barnwood exterior walls was the number one priority to help manage threats to indoor air quality and prolong the life of the exterior cladding.

To achieve this, Todd Glowka Builder, Inc. turned to the Tyvek® DrainVent Rainscreen, an innovative, three-dimensional honeycomb-textured drainage mat that provides advanced protection against water damage.

Tyvek® DrainVent Rainscreen not only promotes air movement which allows the exterior envelope to “breathe,” but also moves water out of the wall between sheathing and cladding to help prevent the rot, cracking, and peeling that trapped moisture can cause in exterior wall systems.
