We are saddened to share that Ernest Robert "Buddy" Coleman, founder of Rausch Coleman Homes, passed away on December 22, 2025.
Buddy Coleman built his first home in 1957, and was the founder of ERC Properties and Rausch Coleman Homes. Part of the housing development company he founded in 1957 recently sold for more than $1 billion. According to his obituary, “While he had a great passion for work, his love for his family and church was evident throughout his life. He taught Sunday school for many years and loved spending weekends at ‘The Farm’ with his children and grandchildren. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, generosity, mentorship, and service.”

Buddy Coleman was the recipient of our 2017 Lee Evans Lifetime Achievement Award. The award honors builders whose exceptional management practices have enabled their companies to prosper and endure for decades. We had the privilege of celebrating him at our 2017 Executive Summit. Surrounded by family, friends, and peers, the evening was a heartfelt tribute to a career defined by integrity, leadership, and lasting impact. It was a joy to see him honored in the presence of those who meant the most to him.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Buddy Coleman's family.
